DESCRIPTION:This panel will explore the nexus of energy and food security as the world looks to significantly lower GHG emissions. Food security has a close connection to energy – for cultivation, processing and transportation but also, natural gas is integral in fertilizer production. Moreover, modern agricultural practices are such that agricultural lands themselves have an important role as a carbon-sink. The session aims to unpack the work being done across Canada to fulfill our potential to deliver global food security through our agricultural practices and innovative uses of energy.
